Do you see clients whose fertility journey feels harder than it should be?
Iron deficiency doesn’t just cause tiredness — it can disrupt ovulation, contribute to anovulatory cycles, and compromise early embryonic development. With up to one in three women of reproductive age experiencing low iron, this is a crucial gap in fertility care.
Dietitians have a powerful role in identifying and correcting iron issues early, improving the path to a healthy pregnancy.
Recognise the Hidden Signs
Learn how iron deficiency can present beyond anaemia - including subclinical deficiency, unexplained infertility, cycle disruption, fatigue, and poor embryo quality - and how to differentiate these from other common fertility challenges.
Understand Iron’s Role in Reproductive Physiology
Explore the essential role of iron in ovulation, implantation, placental development, energy metabolism, thyroid function, and early pregnancy - and why both deficiency and excess matter in fertility care.
Implement Evidence-Based Strategies
Gain practical, research-informed approaches to assessing iron status, interpreting key biomarkers, and applying targeted nutrition and supplementation strategies safely and effectively in preconception and early pregnancy care.
